Title:
No wake from suspend on Acer
Over 4 months with no response. We are closing this bug report because
it lacks the information we need to investigate the problem, as
described in the previous comments. Please reopen it if you can give us
the missing information, and don't hesitate to submit bug reports in the

at the moment on my Acer Aspire 3003NLMi with Xubuntu Hardy, suspend
works fine but Hibernate does not. As long as Suspend works I am a happy
man. Thank you. If you need me to provide any info, please let me know
what exactly you need.

No wake from suspend on Acer Aspire 5601AWLMi (Tribe 5)
Hardy Heron Alpha2 was recently released. It contains an updated
version of the kernel. You can download and try the new Hardy Heron
Alpha2 release from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/hardy/alpha-2/ .
You should be able to then test the new kernel via the LiveCD. If you
can, please verify
I'm retargetting this towards the upcoming Hardy kernel, hence the
'hardy-kernel-candidate' tag. However, against linux-source-2.6.22 this
bug does not meet the criteria for a stable release update and is being
marked as Won't Fix. You can learn more about the stable release update
process at
So I've installed Gutsy... seems like the problem has not been solved
despite being triaged. ATM I cannot suspend but hibernate works... which
is some consolation. strange though because it was the other way round
with Edgy... What is everyone else's experience with this problem?

No wake from
Same experience as you, Shane -- I can hibernate, but can't suspend.

is there any progress in solving this problem? seeing that Gutsy is a
few days from final release... I really hope that at least suspend
works... it didnt with Tribe 5. Thanks for your work.

Actually, not only does suspend still not work, but as of yesterday's
daily build (10/4/2007), Xorg won't even come up booting on the LiveCD
on the Acer Aspire 5601AWLMi.

oh my! I wonder if its just Acer Aspires that are giving this problem.
and to think suspend worked well in Dapper and Edgy on my 3003NLMi. I
hope Erik's case was due the fact that it was a daily build, but ideally
at this stage something as key as suspend should be working. anyway,
we'll see how

I noticed that a new ubuntu kernel, 2.6.22-11.32, was published
recently. Can you try installing/running this newer release and verify
this bug is still an issue? Thanks!

I have installed and am running the latest version of the kernel as of
yesterday night (it's an -11 series, I assume -11.32). No change in
behaviour.

i also installed the latest kernel i am still getting the same results
ie. failure to resume from suspend. Hibernate is working fine.
A question: is my input helping with the fixing of this bug for my
laptop model or should I start another bug report for the Aspire 3003?
thanks.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.
Can you try the debugging procedures documented here:

Thanks in advance!

I have followed the procedure to a point. The relevant area in the
dmesg is this:

I reported an earlier version of this bug here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.20/+bug/74768
This was for 2.6.20. I was told that it wouldn't be fixed, because it
referred to a stable version of the kernel, so I rereported it on the
experimental Tribe 5 version.
I would like to confirm/add to this bug. Actually, Suspend on my laptop
worked fine in Dapper and Edgy. In Edgy I had to install the hibernate
and suspend2-userui for it to work. Resuming from hibernate never did
work on my laptop. However, since Feisty, neither suspend nor hibernate
works. I have
