I get the same issue as #1, however +Maciek's solution to force-start
cryptdisks doesn't quite work.
It starts the service however when I run 'free -m' it shows my swap file
size as 0, despite it being 1gb in size.

I enabled swap successfully running:
$/etc/init.d/cryptdisks force-start
and
$ free -m
returned:
total used free sharedbuffers cached

Swap:

cryptdisks hangs on message stop/waiting

So, I tried to execute
$ sudo /etc/init.d/cryptdisks stop
and got
cryptdisks stop/waiting
instantaneously. So stopping works fine. In fact, when I tried it for a second
time, I got
$ sudo /etc/init.d/cryptdisks stop
stop: Unknown instance:
On the other hand, starting freezes:
