this including workaround: install OOo debs from
download.openoffice.org, not from ubuntu archives; it could perhaps also
ease tracking down where the problem is.

@Harald: I don't have much time so I hope you don't my short comment as
rude. Something that is non-working is always a problem. But problems
have different priorities. And this bug does absolutely *not* address a
critical (!) problem. Please read up on that. Not overhyping your own
problems
Tried scim, scim-bridge, xim too on locale de_DE.UTF-8: works with KDE
applications, firefox, et cetera, but it does NOT work with
OpenOffice.org 2.3. Using en_US.UTF-8 as the locale is not possible.
@Rolf: while this might not be critical, a non-working input method for
people who have to write
Just a data point -- I did an English install using gutsy beta i186
alternative CD. Then installed scim-pinyin by myself (scim was
installed by default). Now in the up-to-date system (but AFAIK neither
SCIM nor OO.o changed since beta release), I can input Chinese in
OpenOffice just fine.
Using
I am not sure I use SCIM. I believe I use uim, but I am always
confused. Please provide more data on how to verify the problem.
Please don't mark something as minor as a non-working input method as
critical. Resetting importance.
