The more recent release of kde4, 4.0.0.1 I think, has options to control
fancy desktop
effects. So far all I know is that enabling these in general causes a sig11;
probably the
actual X functionality in question could be determined by selectively enabling
different
desktop effects.

Actually, this original report was for a Via video adaptor, if your
issue is with Intel, I would file a separate report, unless you get the
same crash log as above.

Confirming due to comments. I will check upstream for any reports on
this, but it is known that KDE 4 is utilizing some bits that do in fact
need to be fixed by the X developers eventually. Last I heard is that
KDE will not go back on changing these bits because it is something that
X will need to
