the never option means that the software will never set your monitor to
power saving mode, but it seems that the hardware is doing that in your
case, did you try changing the bios options? are you sure than setting
it to 1 hour leads to the issue? why 11 minutes doesn't and 1 hour
should?

The problem is not your english, but your description doesn't match what
happens on other configurations and you don't reply to all the questions
which doesn't make it easy to work on the issue. Are you sure that the
issue is there only when running the video player? That doesn't really
make
the new comment seems to indicate that you use none of the ubuntu screen
or power settings, which means that you let the computer handle the
powersaving, are you sure you didn't configure the screen cut in the
bios settings and that's not ubuntu but the computer which is doing the

the way things are supposed to work is that you configure the
screensaver to start after a delay, the monitor power saving after an
another one and the videoplayer send a signal to those so they don't do
that while you are watching a video

monitor shutsdown when playing movies
[quote to myself]
After setting monitor shutsdown in power-prefferences to 11 minutes (the
minimum admisible), and playing again a 30 minutes video.
The monitor DIDNT shutsdown.

gnome-screensaver-preference is all i have touched.
I DO KNOW how it SHOULD work, but it doesnt,
you should not use sudo to change user settings. Could you run dbus-
monitor, start playing a video, wait until getting the bug and attach
the log to a comment?

This does not appear to be a bug report as such. We appreciate the
difficulties you are facing, but it would make more sense to raise your
question in the support tracker. http://launchpad.net/support. The log
shows that totem unhibit the screensaver correctly

If it unhibit the screensaver correctly then it has to work fine, but it
doesnt.
Is not a big issue, but not considering it a bug is a big issue.
I dont know whether you preffer it to label bug or anything else, but is not
the first problem with ubuntu, its just the first time i do something to
Well, i think that i was right.
After setting monitor shutsdown in power-prefferences to 11 minutes (the

The monitor didnt shutsdown.
This is NOT invalid and IS a bug in gnome-screensaver 2.20.0.
I attach a new dbus-monitor output, but
the bug has been closed because it lacked details to be useful, bugs are
tools for maintainers to fix issues, not user support. You can use the
support tracker to get help on figuring what the issue is an then open
an useful bug. Your original description was speaking about the
screensaver

Screensaver doesnt shutsdown the monitor, so it is clear that it is
power-saver or what ever you call it in english. I have my ubuntu in
spanish, and also
The description is not clear no, could you try if you get the issue
using a stock user? Then describe what change you do to the screensaver
configuration and the powermanager one to get the issue? There is
several softwares that can change the screen mode and your descriptions
don't make easy to
Disable screensaver with gnome-screensaver-preference, and uncheck all
checkboxes.
open gnome-power-preferences
Move both bars to the most right. The bar display the amount of minutes in
the delay, in this case will say NEVER o NUNCA in spanish. The upper bar is
for a system wide sleep mode, and
