I am also having the same issue. Thinkpad R50e, had the issue when I just did a distribution upgrade. I have since re-installed fresh from and 8.10 live cd. For me, I am getting a 'logout' back to the login screen, and a normal re-login thereafter. I have set the system to not require a password on
