Ken Arnold, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
@Roger:
Please run 'apport-collect 309473' to collect machine statistics to help
us diagnose the issue.
Thanks

Also, I haven't been able to find any confirmation of this bug anywhere
else. Can you try upstream linux kernels to see if they also exhibit the
same issue? You can find mainline kernel packages at:

Note that Karmic kernel 2.6.31-19 is
@Chase: No I won't try to reproduce this with yet another kernel. It
was present in older Ubuntu releases and is trivial for you to
reproduce.
You won't see many reports about it because people don't generally
unplug things while hibernating - instead they walk away from their
computer. This

Hi Roger,
Can you comment which kernel you tested with when providing the log from
your previous comment (comment 7)? From you last comment it sounds like
hibernation is working properly if you don't start yanking hardware as
the system is going down.

Yes, hibernation works just fine if I don't remove the USB
keyboard/mouse while hibernation is happening. I just did some more
experiments. If I plug the mouse/keyboard back in while there are

I can trivially reproduce this on two different machines. I choose
Hibernate from my Gnome desktop and after a few seconds the screen
switches to text mode. If I do nothing there is just a flashing cursor
for about 15 seconds, then disk activity starts and then the machine
powers off. (My
Ken,
Can you confirm this issue exists with the most recent Karmic Koala 9.10
Alpha release? ISO CD images are available at
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/karmic/ . If the issue remains with Karmic
it would be great to then also test the latest upstream mainline kernel
available.

I'm actually attaching some old logs/info, because I'm not currently at
the setup where it happens. I can try to duplicate it here later.

Yeah, sorry I've delayed so long in reporting this. Will try to
duplicate here; that should also tell if it's because of the built-in
hub in the other keyboard.
