omarr, does the problem still occur with the latest release of Ubuntu?

I haven't installed 10.10 yet, but the problem in previous ones was solved by
disabling splash screen and letting the boot messages flow in screen
Soon, i'll be able to install it, then I may

similar problem since a few days, after poweroff with powerbutton (not
accessing hdd anymore) I have to run a manual fsck and reboot (thanks to
ext4)

omarr that seems fairly odd...as usplash is really a mask with some
user input abilities to hide the boot text...

here are the answers
1- I did not. I installed directly Ubuntu 8.10
2- I din not add any.
3- I have not tried it. But I did as db said and it works. I changed grub list.
I typed sudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst and then removed splash and
quiet entries then I restarted
BUT IT
So it's either linux or usplash, db will take it from here :)
