There is now a new version of blender available in Karmic (2.49a+dfsg- 0ubuntu2). Would you mind checking if this is still a problem with that. On my computer the icons are available and I have tried `sudo apt-get remove blender` which removes the icons and `sudo apt-get install blender` brings

It's a bit ironic, but on the same day that you reported this bug, someone else reported not being able to _remove_ the menu entry on 64 bit Jaunty. Bug 353785. I assume you have blender_2.48a+dfsg-1ubuntu3_amd64.deb (`apt-cache policy blender` will tell you). I'm not sure exactly how the menu
