Sorry, I posted the last comment by mistake. I've experienced this problem with both 9.04 and 9.10, and have had the SKIM system tray icon and the Skype icon as the main culprits, however I think the Skype icon issue was under 9.04 and KDE 3 with Compiz. AFAIK, this only occurs at random as on

Okay, I managed to reproduce and workaround the phenomenon, though still on the same system. To reproduce, (I simply need to) log out and log back in. Alternatively, when logged in, zap (ctrl+alt+backspace, if enabled), or change to a tty and do 'sudo service kdm restart'. Once logged back in,
