I also am experiencing this issue. I isolated it to a single USB device
that causes my system to hang on boot at the exact same time as the
original reporter. The culprit is a Logitech Performance MX mouse's USB
receiver. The USB ID is ID 046d:c52b Logitech, Inc. If it's plugged

I've bought Genius SlimSmart 220 usb keyboard, and now this problem affects me

After doing even more research on this issue I found that some people
reported the same problem when having their usb-keyboard/usb-peripherals
attached. So I disconnected all of my USB-devices, and after that it
booted. When I connected them again later, and rebooted, the computer
I should probably add that I am running the amd64 version of Ubuntu
9.04.
