Well, I have the exact opposite problem now. If power saving and the
kscreensaver are enabled, the screensaver runs forever, and ANY of the
power saving options don't work. Disabling the screen saver and using
just power saving works.
Seems like this issue was over-corrected. I would lean towards
Yes and no...
The only screen saver options I have now on KDE 4.1 (Hardy) are Blank Screen
and Random. I set it to Random and clicked the Test button, and it tested
successfully (screen blanked). I then set it to start automatically after 1
minute, clicked Apply, and walked away. I came back 12
Perhaps the above statement is incorrect. I retested Random with Power
Saver activated to ensure it wasn't just a problem with Random. It
worked as expected with Power Saver on. I then turned Power Saver back
off, and a minute later the screen saver kicked in again. Not sure what

Yeah, there aren't many screensavers installed by default. You can get more
from installing the kscreensaver package.
Anyway, it looks like there is no longer a conflict with Power Saver anymore.
(Which is good) If this issue reoccurs you can reopen this bug report.

Using ubuntu 6.01 dapper with kubuntu desktop installed and in KDE:
I have same problem if Enable Power Managment
uncheckedscreensaver won't start.
This is bad because if you want to enjoy your screensaver you don't want
your monitor to shut off.
Needs a shut off monitor after never
The same happens to me. Moreover, the Power Saver setting is not
remembered after restarting the PC or even the X. I'm using Kubuntu
6.06.1 AMD64 on Athlon64/NVIDIA adapter (with 'nvidia-glx' driver
package installed). Is this issue still alive ?

Is this still a problem in the final release of the Dapper? Or fixed in
