Thank you for reporting this issue about xserver-xorg-video-nv. Starting
with Lucid, Ubuntu is transitioning to using the -nouveau video driver
by default instead of -nv. The reason for this change is because

I do not think this bug should go to the nvidia graphic drivers 180 group as
that is not where the problem lies. The problem is with the default xorg
driver at boot of the CD of karmic and if I use the text installer which I
did after the first problem with booting from the cd the
It will not boot to a functional screen right from the install karmic cd
or after having gone through the text install from the hard disk.
