The truly infuriating bit to this is that the windows EDID only differs
from the ubuntu EDID by 2 hex digits. I'm wondering now if it wouldn't
be worthwhile to create a tool to manually replace EDID's, and create an
EDID database so people can get the proper values without having to boot
into windo

I've managed to resolve the issue with a kludge. Workaround is here:
