Correction: the strings in the popup window are from
UpdateManager/UpdateManager.py, not do-release-upgrade.
Anyways, fixing this turned out to be a bigger challenge, so I opened bug
#897276.

proposed fixes both.

David: right, after taking a closer look, it seems that only strings
from the .ui file are translated in this window, which is not all of
them. c-n-r-gtk needs gettext initialization. Sorry for the unnecessary
