Same here with Lenovo Thinkpad X220. I'll have this problem with the
same frequency. I hope this gets ironed out soon.

Ubuntu 12.04 - won't resume from suspend. Acer Aspire One 722
To manage notifications about this bug
A me-to report. My system is a Dell Latitude E6400 laptop with Ubuntu
12.04 LTS after an upgrade from 10 (with all current updates). After the
upgrade, the system will not resume from suspend. Upon resume, the
screen is lit/on, but black. The keyboard is completely unresponsive.
Ctrl+Alt+F1 does
I can confirm that the fix posted by pbn works. Tedious it is, but
much better than nothing at all.

Ubuntu 12.04 - won't resume from
I have the same (or it seems like the same) issue with a Lenovo ThinkPad
X220. Most of the time it will wake, but maybe one our of five times it
will not.
As a workaround, sometimes I can do Ctrl-Alt-F1, then log-in to the
terminal and enter the sudo shutdown -h now command to shut it down.
This
I'm just curious, since the step from 10.04 to 12.04 left me utterly
unable to use suspend - the single most importand (and used) feature for
me. I have tried a lot of things, and this kernel just will not resume
from suspend. Is there somewhere I can read up on the changes in this
area? It's a
Maybe I should report a separate bug, since it seems different from this
one? Pbn talks about the X display not being restored, while for me, I
get kernel panic as soon as the disks spin up.

Ubuntu 12.04 - won't resume from suspend. Acer Aspire One 722
To manage notifications
There is a (rather tedious) workaround that seems to reliably work to
suspend/resume my Aspire One 522 with fglrx (12.4) and the default
(3.2.0) ubuntu 12.04 kernel.
Actually, it seems that only the *first* resume does not perfectly
restore the X display. At least when using
Although I have a different (stationary) computer, the problem is the
same - freeze on resume, but with flashing caps and scroll leds. Have
tried many different things, kernel parameters, removal of modules. Only
one thing gets me a working resume: disable ACPI in BIOS, which leaves
me with only

Well, I just updated my Acer Aspire 722 (the machine this bug report if

Ubuntu 12.04 - won't resume from
Since modesetting may play a part in making resume fail, I retried after
switching the onboard Intel Q35 graphics of the HP dc7800p CMT to an Nvidia
GT520.
Expectedly this has caused some changes to how the system behaves:
It will suspend once, stopping its fans - as well as usually respond to
Curiously, with the Nvidia GT520 installed, repeated invocations of NJC's (post
#10)
sudo sh -c sync; echo 1 /sys/power/pm_trace; pm-suspend
from a command shell window (Ctrl-Alt-T) in LXDE result in the fans being
stopped during suspend and the system reproducibly resuming without issue,
Without issue in #14 to be clarified as: The watchdog messages from #2
still do appear, and sudo /etc/init.d/vdr restart required (probably
further services affected too).

Well, I do not have an Aspire 722. My Acer Aspire 6935G will not resume
from suspend state ever since my first installation of 10.10 up till
now. I run 12.04 and it bothers me.

I'm seeing the same problem on the Acer Aspire One, Model ZG5, which has
an Intel Atom CPU and Intel Graphics card.
On resume, the screen stays black rather than showing the screensaver.
I am able to Ctrl+Alt+F1, login in and forcefully kill X, and then log
in again.
I don't appear to be able

Relating to Antonino, not sure this is the case - - I will check the BIOS is
not still set to USB boot and report back.
However, this original BUG post, I feel is related, corresponds to, a conflict
between the AMD and OpenSource Drivers.
As specified in
@ Edward post #9. I ran command:
sudo sh -c sync; echo 1 /sys/power/pm_trace; pm-suspend
From link: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspend
Resume failed, but see attached dmesg. Note the info in the link about
running that command, and the caveat that precedes it.

You received this bug notification because
I have been suspend/resuming without power cycling for months on end on
10.04. After upgrade to 12.04, resume stalls immediately after disk
spin-up, with flashing caps and scroll lock leds.
The same behavior on a clean 12.04 install.
Suspend produces only nice log-rows in syslog.
