That is incorrect. Pax supports archives larger than 2gb on both my
Mac and openbsd system.

I remember seing this same behavior / solution with a SiS s17012 onboard
sound setup on a clone PC. Just mentioning it for good keyword karma ;)
I'll be checking into it next week when I have access to the machine. I
think there are other bugs related to this.

As you can see from the attachment, this bootup gave me the usb sound
card at 0, despite the modprob set to boot intel at 0.
The sound card switches at every boot and no amount of tinkering seems
to give the one I need.

I have a T43 1871-W34 and just like David my problems got solved with the
previous fixes.
My acpi-support is a little different however:
SAVE_VBE_STATE=true
#ACPI_SLEEP=true is commented
I also had issues with a proprietary module. Please, check carefully
that your kernel is not tainted.

the exact program, but it's the window list applet that causes the
slowdown [disabling it causes the problem to go away]. I attached a gdb

I'm running vmware server on two different machines. One host is an
Athlon XP, the other is a Pentium M. I have created a vmware guest
using Ubuntu Server 6.06.1. The linux-image-2.6.15-26-server kernel

Note that this bug has been dismissed by upstream as NOTABUG for several
years, since Gnome 2.6 IIRC. The keyboard layout selector was rewritten
at that point - the old selector supported unlimited number of layouts,
while the new one only supported at most 4 layouts.

Alright, I've been using `konqueror --profile foo' for a while, and it
just happened again. I think the problem is when you open konqueror
using a different profile that doesn't have the bookmarks toolbar shown,
it won't be shown when opening the one that should have it visible.

The problem goes away when I refresh the g-t window, make it redraw,
but returns if I move the g-t window, or resize it.
It also draws parts of over other windows. Cannot capture a shot of this
-- doing so makes the artifacts disappear.

gnome-terminal X misbehaviour
In the above shot, gnome-terminal misbehaving with mutt, the part of
the image that shows a gnome-terminal (running 'top') is interesting: I
had closed that terminal, yet the instance of g-t running mutt was still
drawing it.

The problem persists after dist-upgrade to Dapper
Furthermore the volume control problem is an issue only with gnome.
Meaning with mplayer, vlc etc I can control the volume of a mp3 or
movie I am playing.
But the system sounds on the desktop are at full blown (so currently
dissabled all desktop
