I found a fix for the key repeat issue I was experiencing, and thought
I'd share.
I added the kernel boot parameter notsc to my grub kernel line, and
that fixed it. With this, I could also remove the psmouse.rate=40 and
other suggested settings listed in the thread.

I had this issue on my testmachine as well, apparently dholbach was
bitten by it too. The CD is reported to be all right by the cdrom check.
I wonder if this is hardware dependant?

The usplash.conf trick didn't work for me. X runs at 1280x1024, and that
was what was originally in /etc/usplash.conf. I tried 1024x768, 800x600,
640x480, and 720x400 (which is what the text console apparently runs
at). I tried doing sudo update-initramfs -u and sudo dpkg-reconfigure
usplash.

I don't have this problem with Edgy Beta installed on a harddisk. With
Edgy Beta live CD I don't get the option to set the computer into
sleep/standby mode. Just shutdown, hibernate and reboot. Maybe sleep
mode is disabled by default?

Keyboard random repeat and dropped key presses
OK, I found out why it was only working during shutdown. I had linux-386
installed and grub now chooses that kernel to boot if it's installed.
update-initramfs was only updating the ramdrive for the linux-generic
kernel. So after removing the linux-386 kernel, I found that changing
usplash.conf so

Seems like I was a bit too fast. It is not working on the other
computer, it just takes a bit longer but then not only the keyboard
behaves odd, but shortly after the keyboard begins to make trouble, X
(or the keyboard, I currently have no mouse) locks up completely.

I believe this is not related to bug 27837. There are two problems. One
seems to show up in dapper, another is showing up in edgy. The dapper
problem is that linux requires a boot option to set the resolution for
usplash to work under some configurations. The edgy problem is that
/etc/usplash.conf
Trying again with 6.10 RC gave the same error. Looking in the log file,
this time I was able to find the command which had failed; running that
command by hand gave an error message to the effect hdi is not a BIOS
drive (sorry, I didn't keep good notes and that wording proabably isn't
quite

I already got it on my msi board. Installing the oem was very smooth.
I disabled the whole usb controller, and it worked. With the mouse keyboard
disabled (only) it wasn't working.

JMicron PATA/SATA Controller does not
The same issue here. Very simple to reproduce.
Dapper release, nautilus 2.14.3-0ubuntu
Variant 1: Take attachment below (test.swf) and place it on desktop,
nautilus should crash immediately.
Variant 2: make an openoffice presentation, choose Export and save it
in swf format on the desktop.
I am using the latest 64-bit desktop version, just downloaded a few days
ago. My solution came from a search on the net and found that several
other people have had the same problem. The other network
configurations work fine, and the WiFi card is able to connect to an
unencrypted network
Alright, it kept bugging me, so I installed Quake3 and tested. The
result is that either the Core 2 Duos can play Q3 in software at 90 FPS,
or hardware acceleration works :-)

When I use subpixel smoothing and full hinting, the menu fonts get
better, but text inside renders very strange.
