I would pretty-much agree with everything the reporter of this bug has
said. There are two points I'd like to raise as being relevant:
1. There is a problem with drivers in general, not just printers. That's why
the kernel dev team has offered to develop drivers for free:

'foreign' architectures, read: installing an i386 package in an amd64
system. Ubuntu nor Debian support this yet, the project which is trying
to solve this is called 'multiarch'. With multiarch, you can do exactly

It seems like the problem appears only when booting from desktop cd and
we noticed that gfxboot does some strange things (like a small green
line) when reading kernel and initramfs. I suspect there is an
interaction bug here that sets registries in the card with some values
that are not properly

First of all, the copyright license of the MySQL logos is GPL; Firefox's

as the user for whom automatic login, did you try to type an another
username to the entry for that?
I'm e-mailing from work, where I don't have access to my Feisty
installation.

I can confirm that the problem I initially reported (memory growth) is
no longer happening. OTOH, guidance-power manager is now using 29MB
memory instead of 20MB. This is not a small change

Every time seahorse is started -- on a gdm login, for example --, it
will create a temporary work directory under ~/.gnome2, to hold the
socket to be used on the current session.
This directory (and the socket created) does not seem to be
status confirmed
