This was the best description that I've heard of in terms of my problem.
This is exactly what I am experiencing and the noacpi option did not solve
my problem. I even tried the notsc option, which prevented the laptop from

so please try to replace http:// with mmsh:// to see if it works,
specially with the streams that trhown up the no demux plugin or no
audio channel available.

no sound
Public bug reported:
7.04, recently installed, has never been any sound in Ubuntu, though I
still have Windows, and the sound works fine there. Sound playbacks are
set to autodetect, though I've tested all the options in the dropdown
list and none make any sound.

I note that I have 1:2.18.1-0ubuntu1 version of nautilus installed
although this page indicates a newer version available, but no newer
version seems to be available in synaptic.
