user X is prevented from logging in. No error message is given, nor does

I can finally confirm that my USB devices are working.
The devices that are working are 3 usb ports, printer, keyboard , mouse and

I can vouch for the issue on Feisty (7.04), base install. The
workaround takes care of it, although I haven't found a way for conky to
peacefully coexist with Nautilus desktop icons.
The conky faq (http://conky.sourceforge.net/faq.html) complains that
