There are two different modules for asus laptops: asus_acpi and asus-laptop.
asus-laptop is the new version of asus_acpi and it should be removed.

Looks like the same, except one fact: I was unable to start gnome with

the related code.

It looks like the update to the nVidia drivers was just released, so
that's now working on 2.6.22-12.
However, the iwlwifi/3945 issue is still present. I'm not even sure
where to begin looking to address this.

I took a video of the problem with Istanbul.
At 7-12 seconds I move the mouse around inside the network graph to show that
moving the mouse inside the graph is not sufficient to create the problem.
At 15-25 seconds I move the mouse in and out of the graph area a couple times

following settings is not possible, because they get reset to their inital
value after a short delay:

When I have compiz kde-window-decorator running and I use the scroll when my
cursor is over the edge of a window, like to resize it, kde-window-decorator
crashes.
