Well, in addition to this post, my problem is resolved: I tested with
Ubuntu 8.04 Alpha 3 and I didn't reproduce more the bugs related.
If you can backport Mesa version from Hardy to Gutsy, it would be great.

A forum post by member Hette (post number 10 in the previous link) said
the issue was only apparent if Num Lock was enabled. It just happens
that, if I disable Num Lock, my mutlimedia keys will work again. Is it
the same for everybody else?
On a side note, even with Num Lock enabled, the keyboard

I can confirm a similar issue on a fresh installation of Gutsy. I have
the ATI card FireGL V7200 and dual monitors. I cannot set a higher
resolution than 800x600 on these screens without using the proprietary
ATI drivers. Even the drivers in the Restricted Manager or in Synaptic
do not work at
Resume works after upgrading to hardy.
Touchpad works after resume as well after adding i8042.reset as a kernel
booting option.

I think it's obvious that there are two completely different bugs
discussed here. The first (and original) one, which is in the bug
description, has been fixed by myself, and it has been released a long
time ago. The bug was in the parsing of the fs type string. It wasn't
hardware dependent.

Hmm, I managed to start an strace up using
sudo strace -f -o trace -ff -F sshfs -d [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/media/lacie
/mnt/zalmox/lacie -o
rw,noexec,nosuid,nodev,nonempty,allow_other,sshfs_debug
It worked a lot slower doing the strace, because of all overhead. But
eventually it did stop working. The
replacing smbfs with cifs in fstab seemed to help for me. Long
waits at boot time went away and the filesystem seems available.
Manually mounting the filesystem every boot wasn't an option, because
servers are supposed to be available automagically. (Dapper under
VMWare)

As libmotif-dev is in multiverse and pdfedit in universe, adding libmotif-dev
to build-depends isn't a wise choice.
Besides xpdf and pdftoppm are already included in other packages, so no need to
have a second copy of it in the archive (which needs to be patched too if
security issues arise).
