1. No *xgl* installed
2. Just basic glx installed
3. TODAY updated (last one was in November 2007 - test machine) system still
failed to login (didn't try newuser or failsafe login)
4. sudo chmod a+w /tmp; sudo chmod o+t /tmp (tnx David) just worked for me

I got this error after installing Hardy Alpha 3, and all upgrades and

two related package updates over an operational kubuntu gutsy nvidia
setup and everything works fine after restarting the xserver. The nvidia

it's related to CONFIG_FAIR_USER_SCHED: each user gets the same amout of CPU

Firstly, what's exactly you graphic card name? Visual effect can be
enabled on most Graphic card but some ATI cards still doesn't work with
Compiz without trouble, so they are blocked. You can know which graphic
card you use by typing this on a terminal without the quotes : lspci

This report is useles as it is. Please provide further information on
what exactly the issues are you are experiencing, though I'm quite sure
it's KDE related so it's easier if you report this right on
