I think your problem is related to using /dev/random in your crypttab
swap /dev/sda4 /dev/random swap
/dev/random collects entropy from different parts of the system
(including mouse/touchpad usage). I'm not sure, but I suspect entropy
is not saved at shutdown, so entropy must be collected

the same occurs here after dist-upgrading Gutsy to version of yesterday night.
With the old version it more or less worked, but sometimes I needed to click on
the network 2-3 times ... then the connection became ready (100%). I am using a
kernel from vanilla sources + madwifi + whoopie

When I tried to open the file, software sources dialogue opened. I unchecked

Alright, I may have a solution.
I have an acer extensa 4420 - 5237
I originally couldn't get 7.10 installed on the laptop.
With help Iwas able to solve it in my post on ubuntu forums
Its a combo of the ati x1250 driver and the wireless NIC.
