This was kind of an awkward mistake I made. Tested one day and looked up the
kernel-Version the next day, forgetting I had run the updates :-/
But by now I've tested it several times with the latest Ubuntu Hardy and it

I don't doubt that you can use a bad character in a Linux

What makes you think I am using update-rc.d as a sysadmin? I was
exploring why gdm on my system wasn't being started even though the gdm
package was updated in the meantime. The reason is that update-rc.d
doesn't discover that there's a missing link in rc2.d, which is a bug.

How should I built up the xorg.conf? Is the following method

Having looked at the code in gnome-power-manager, the first error in my
log file could be bogus. It looks like this error comes up if it
receives two commands too quickly (inside the timeout value). The first
suspend may have been initiated pretty quickly after the previous
