When trying to copy an audio cd (choosing Disc copy at the initial
screen), putting my source CD in one drive and the burnable CD in the
other, after analysing the tracks an unknown error occurs and the

The problem seems to be related to fglrx. Xorg complained that this file
could not be found.
I removed gdm and reinstalled it.
The allowed me to get into the desktop, although the resolution was low.
I installed all available updates and rebooted and things look fine now.
In addition, I noticed
The bug occurs in open_file_with_application() function from
gsearchtool-support.c due to gnome_vfs_mime_get_default_application
(mime) always returning NULL.

Audacious not launching

When one clears Enable visualization check box in totem settings,
totem doesn't stop to show visualization. Visualization stops only when
totems switches to next track or one stops/starts playing. This behavior
clearly confuses users and doesn't
was just thinking - there is an option to enable as 'independent screen'
in the NVidia-Settings utility - however will this clash with compiz
(desktop effects) enabled? I think I recall an issue with this
previously and I know how delicate the X-Server (or Linux in general)
can be when playing
