[Bug 223081] Re: Hardy kernel causes overheating
It looks rather like some deadlock or starvation issue. The UI and all userland applications freeze, but events like screen dimming still happen on schedule as I mentioned above. While the screen (jerkily, slowly) dims, I can actually move the mouse and do stuff; once the screen is dimmed it all freezes solid again. Events like turning off the screen when I close the lid, and turning it on when I open it still happen as well. Occasionally the machine will actually recover if I wait long enough. Usually, however, it doesn't - or it perhaps would if I waited arbitrarily long, but I do have work I want to do. [Bug 234474] Re: always in english, even after changing locale
I've tested the bug on Gutsy first. Yesterday I installed Hardy and experienced same problem. First I looked around on forums, and I saw that french users have similar localization problem with SLiM and derived works (Fluxbuntu). http://forum.ubuntu-fr.org/viewtopic.php?id=161315 http://community.fluxbuntu.org/index.php?topic=418.msg1939#msg1939 And I've found bugs #161802 and #165257 which are very similar. I got this with a fresh install of 8.04 too, and I've had to help a few people on IRC who have been bitten by it. [Bug 226558] Re: Not booting after upgrade to Hardy Heron
Hi Saivann After a few tries, you assumptions were right. I can boot on pata 2ndary channel but not on the 1st channel. Strange cauz my plextor cdrw drive. Althought Win works on both channels, i guess my MB ide controllers seem to have a transfer data rate problem. Mb is a low cost asrock model and maybe that's the issue. Works better with a sata 80go Maxtor HD, although transfer data rate still very low compared to the 1.5GB bandwith capacity. I only get less than half thin figure under sisoft sandra test. On the pata channels i only get the equivalent of a udma33 with a recent udma100 disk. Still ubuntu seems more more toutchy on these issues than win or even than the 7.10 version. [Bug 234552] [NEW] nm-applet causing complete lockups 100% sure
Public bug reported: I have just reinstalled hardy heron 8.04 LTS. and i am experienceing the same lockups. the screen completely freezes no signal from mouse, keyboard lights ect. Also sound plays a short loop over and over for a few seconds. last installation of hardy i uninstalled network manager and network-manager-gnome and experienced no lockups. hence the reason i re-installed. This time however i left network manager at 0.6.6 until it locked up a few times again.. so i tried something new and installed the 0.7 version of nm they work great apart from the frequent crashes when downloading and sometimes randomly. I am sure this bug is due to the network manager. i never had this problem in gutsy with the 0.6.5 version of nm. please tlel me what you want me to attatch ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- nm-applet causing complete lockups 100% sure https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/234552 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 189579] Re: xephyr should have a menu entry
Bryce, are you learn-resistant? Do you have problems with the English language, with my English? Fourth time, fourth error. Please go outside and get some fresh air. This bug is not a dupe of 173837 and it is not a bug in gdm. It is a wishlist request for xephyr to have a menu entry (look at the bug title, for chrissakes!). xephyr bugs go to xorg-server, so it was correct all along until you came in four times and messed things up four times. [Bug 182473] Re: rtl8187 drops connection
I am also affected by this bug on Ubuntu 8.04 x86 (32-bit). My external (USB) rtl8187-based wireless frequently drops the connection (WPA) and Network Manager fails to indicate this (but the Sent/Recieved count doesn't increase) or goes to connected, but 0% connection, or goes to 100% connection but little orange triangle warning icon. The way to fix it involves randomly (no pattern to what will work) doing the following: - Removing the USB stick and reconnecting - Unloading and reloading the rtl8187 kernel module - Unticking and ticking the connection in Network Manager forcing a reconfiguration - Restarting the computer My connection works perfectly in a Vista installation on the same machine. -- rtl8187 drops connection https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/182473 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
