So I had some more time to investigate, and in fact I think this is an
evince bug.
It is possible to open more than one file when using other PDF readers
(acroread, xpdf, epdfview).
Also, other plugins are able to open several documents in different tabs
at once (tested with DJVU files using

I change Protocol option from ImPS/2 to ExplorerPS/2 at mouse configuration and
problem disapear.
I'm using FF3 and Ubuntu 8.04.

I have been having this difficulty since 8.04 upgrade as well. I'm also
on an hp tc1100 tablet pc with 1.5 Gb ram.
I have been using the proprietary NVIDIA drivers. I just disabled them

I can confirm the same behaviour with 2.6.24-19-386 (hardy-proposed) on
a Core2Duo processor, and the curious thing is the output of uname -a:

Also having this issue. Changed status to Confirmed. It looks like
pidgin is registering on the DBus system bus, not the session bus. But
purple-remote looks like it is trying to find libpurple instances on the
session bus. I really don't know how this DBus stuff works but am more
than happy

Yes, creating a new profile does fix it. Firefox does not even prompt
for which profile to use. Looks like the old one was stored in
/etc/firefox and the new one is in /etc/firefox-3.0.
This is still a bug, however, since I suspect many users will not be
happy having lost their bookmarks,
