days) when the update is for Bind9. All other updates load with no
problem, after I de-select any having to do with Bind. I am running

i found out that localedef works well with the old kernel 2.6.22-14 (the
original one coming with gutsy) but not the current one -15 in gutsy.
Maybe the kernel is messed up?

To be honest, I have no idea! I left it churning away at the upgrades

I am using Hardy Heron (64 bit) and the bogofilter plugin. The plugin
is enabled and the binaries are installed. Despite this, Evolution
never tags incoming mail on its own. I run an IMAP server that provides
header tagging of all incoming email. It almost unerringly places the
correct spam
Can any of the others who experienced this problem confirm that the
problem disappeared with the newer version of consolekit?

I was able to get around this bug by going to a tty command prompt
(ctrl-alt-fn) and running
sudo dpkg -r -a

Some time after I filed it I came to believe that the noise going away
on the first booting of the previous kernel was just a coincidence. My
motherboard system chip mini fan started making noise more and more as
time went by regardless of the kernel it was running. In the end

Well, in my previous comment I was actually trying to make it clearer,
using a side to side comparison, that this is a bug, not a user mistake.
You can't give two features the same name in the main UI (read column
names) and expect the user to guess the correct naming.

thanks, i'll try out the new driver, and attach the log later.
for now, i can attach current xorg.0.log and xorg.conf after dpkg-
reconfigure.
as i am looking at the log file, would it be possible that the problem
is caused by the driver using Output VGA as the primary device, and
hence the LCD
