I did some more digging, and it turns out that this only occurs if a
desktop file does not have a Type specified for the Desktop Entry.
Adding Type=Application for compiz.desktop solved the problem for
Msn-Pecan Works.

Hi Allesandro, I meant the use of the v4l1compat should be the default
now for these applications. At least with the most current versions. If
not you should report a new bug for this (just make sure you are at the
latest level for your release and say which release you are on).

I understand hardware specific bugs aren't easy to fix as few people
have the hardware to hand to experiment with. If I was even faintly
competent with C and device drivers I would be all over this but sadly I
am not, however...

I'm using Intrepid, and I still haven't found any way to right-click.
Two- or three-finger tapping doesn't work; that is, tapping doesn't work
at all for me, not even for left-clicks. I've looked through lots of
forums, but nothing seems to work for me.
I'm using a next-gen macbook.

I am using a Dell XPS m1530 with a biometric device to be able to logon by
authenticating with my finger.
The manually entered password and the finger scan produce a different login
mechanism.
The keyring activation seems to rely on the manual password,

Canon lide25 flat bed scanner does not work on Hardy 8.04.1 (fully up to date)
using xsane after clicking Preview or Scan buttons. Used to work on Gutsy using
start up program of scanbuttond with parameter -r 100. Doesn't work on
Hardy with or without scanbuttond.
Everyone please remember to indicate /properly/ that this bug does
affect you, as that provides Canonical with a single number that they
can use to ascertain the importance of the bug.

Hi,
exactly the same problem here. On two different MSN accounts, Unable to
retreive MSN address book since many hours.
Since yesterday, MSN was working perfectly. My machine configuration didn't
change at all, and is permanently uptodate.
I provide the log/debug output as attachment.
