[Bug 318248] Re: [Jaunty].xsession-errors filled up with OKs
I have already added my .xsession-errors, see: http://launchpadlibrarian.net/21292497/.xsession-errors I add the one from today to this comment. I open my erros-file with gedit, unfocus the gedit window, click around in random windows, e.g. firefox or nautilus, go back to gedit and have to reload the file and there are some OKs more. Just minimizing and maximizing gedit also adds one, sometimes two. [Bug 317790] Re: unable to detect type of stream
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems. http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures At a minimum, we need: 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. the behavior you expected, and 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). [Bug 74279] Re: error importing photos in ptp mode
I tried f-spot under an updated Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex install with same laptop (iBook G4) and same camera (Canon PowerShot G5) and it works just fine! I'm not using 8.10 for everyday because it has issues resuming from Suspend--pretty important for a travelling laptop. So, f-spot v0.5.0.3 works f-spot v0.4.3.1 fails As 8.04 (Hardy Heron) is a Long-Term Support version and f-spot is the default application when I plug in my camera, I think this fix would be a useful one to backport. (gThumb works like a charm in both releases.) By the way, how do I set gThumb to be the default application to handle a USB camera? Neither Preferred Applications nor Multimedia Systems Selector offer to configure this option, and neither gThumb nor f-spot have a preferences setting to become the default USB camera application. -- error importing photos in ptp mode https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/74279 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 316414] Re: [i965] After leaving fullscreen, Intrepid draws only wallpaper, mouse cursor, and nothing more.
No, I think a regular upgrade should do it. I use apt-get, and `apt-get update; apt-get upgrade` (or possibly `apt-get dist-upgrade`) is then enough. I guess the same is true with synaptic. This will replace your current driver (and limdrm-stuff which the driver depends upon). [Bug 318809] [NEW] frequent segmentation faults - segfault - gedit, nautilus, python
Public bug reported: $lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 8.04.1 Release: 8.04 Package information: I don't know which package exactly but I'm suspecting it's python related. My observation: When I have a text file open in gedit, after a while, when I was working on other things, I notice that gedit crashed. No error messages is given and it's random, meaning that it does not happen when I actually do something - open, save, close, etc - with gedit. Similar pattern is observed with pidgin as well. But, gedit crashes were way more frequent than that of pidgin. Then I noticed in log files segfault lines indicating the crashes of gedit, pidgin and others. I'm suspecting it's python related since those softwares utilize python. Below is the list of all other software that had segfault entry in log. The number indicates the number of segfault occurence per software. $ zcat /var/log/*.gz | grep -i segfault | perl -n -e '/\] (.*)\[/; print $1;print \n;' | sort | uniq -c | sort -nr 96 gedit 14 nautilus 13 lat_mem_rd 7 pidgin 6 python 2 VirtualBox 2 metacity Do you aggree this is python problem? ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- frequent segmentation faults - segfault - gedit, nautilus, python https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/318809 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

C'mon, this bug is known in Ubuntu since August 08, in KDE since February 08, and can be fixed by 8 lines of Code, and the code is there as a diff. I know the update policy, but rules are made for helping us, we (people) are not made for serving rules. This bug is bugging each single user that is logging into KDE4.1, ergo each user of Kubuntu Intrepid. Look at debian, they are stumbling over their own feet because of policy rigidness - and slowly they are learning. [Bug 316423] Re: [i830] black screen after intrepid login intel graphics
Leonardo, that is interesting, since rad_sci_guy has a pretty old graphics chipset (i830) and you have a very new one (Q45). It probably means that the bug isn't really in the intel driver. This may be why rad_sci_guy has seen it reported for the ati-driver. Probably, the same bug has been reported in other packages. PS: It is also a possibility that there are multiple bugs which give the same behaviour, but my gut feeling for this is that it is the same -- [i830] black screen after intrepid login intel graphics https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/316423 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thank you for comment. 2009/1/18 Luca Falavigna dktrkr...@ubuntu.com: Thanks for the patch! Could this be forwarded to Debian or upstream? It could be interesting to see their opinions too. I had send the patch to upstream author. And his reply was: I have applied the patch to CVS and committed it. [Bug 318805] [NEW] Missing pata_cs5535 module for geode based controllers
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: debian-installer The netinst (and I believe alternate) CD is missing the pata_cs5535 ATA driver which is used in the ION 503 and rebadged Viglen MPC-L devices. This prevents the installer from being able to 'see' the local hard disk, and this makes it difficult to install. I plucked the pata_cs5535.ko from /lib/modules/2.6.27-7-generic/kernel/drivers/ata/pata_cs5535.ko from another machine that was already running 2.6.27-7 (the version of the kernel on the netinst iso I used) and ran depmod -a. I then inserted the module and the disk sparked into life, whereupon I could complete the install. Could pata_cs5535.ko please be added to the next build of the iso images? ** Affects: debian-installer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Missing pata_cs5535 module for geode based controllers https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/318805 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
