I was using update-notifier-kde -u as suggested here

BIOS does not provide ACPI _PSS objects in a way

I'm experiencing the same problem, if not similar enough: suddenly, most
applications freeze for a couple of minutes and then unfreeze. dmesg

I just downgraded the driver to 2:2.7.0-1ubuntu2 and I can confirm the
problem was not present there. Thus, this is a regression.

Just for the record, the package is named soprano-backend-sesame.
After installing it (and restarting nepomukserver), it appears to be still
unavailable.

Actually, this was not working for me with the following config:

But, by adding these additional options, and rebooting, now the link is
up for me:

One work-around I have found to this was alluded to in an earlier email
in t his thread...
It worked for me when this happens.
If on booting your Ubuntu 9.04 release that you've installed on Bootable
USB...
If during the boot process it gets to the Ubuntu splash screen showing the
left/right

created a single linux partition via cfdisk
formatted disk with mkfs.ext3 for testing - works
cryptsetup:

Creating a vfat filesystem works, I can mount the volume, although it is
limited to 7.5Gb.

Ya, I think the total freeze is a different issue. Most people here are
talking about a partial freeze, where the mouse cursor still moves. Note
however that ctrl alt del does *not* work in the partial freeze. The only
thing that works is moving the mouse cursor. Nothing else is possible
