I just wanted to add what I know.
On a Celeron D 2.53, 650i, 4 GB, I did not have this issue, or at least I
didn't notice it.
When I switched over to AMD X2 4800+, 780G, 2 GB, I began to experience this
issue.
For what it's worth, if I reboot warm, the issue only occurs about half the
time.
Anyone with 2.6.31-16 installed? And is this problem resolved with it? I
am worried that should we install it or not.

Is there a way to reproduce the error consistently?
I checked with ipython, and it certainly shows the same path as python,

Another solution might be scaling the animation speed by the number of list
items, so that it always takes eg 1sec. That would give some optical feedback
of what's happening. (might look fancy if the speed behaves like a sine)

libs. Apt is one of them:

Thanks Dave, I'd be happy to trace the issue, but unfortunately I'm not able to
reproduce it.

After hibernation today, the applet was there.
Then I reboot (not shutdown+boot, I acutally never use this option), the applet
was there.

FWIW I had this problem with a new pair of raid drives formatted to
ext4. Because it was new I was able to reformat to ext3, and that works.

I really don't see the difference between:
versions=2.3-
echo $versions | something
and
echo $versions | something
Could you attach the problematic debian/pyversions or .dsc? I suspect what
happens instead is that versions isn't set properly, e.g. has a newline, so
that the code becomes:
If the build fails, I think we would have catched build errors for
karmic, so I don't think it's SRU worthy.

RealPlayer Meta (.ram) files are not associated with Movie Player, and
there are not parsed correctly.
Attached the .ram which should start the show immediately, but actually
