I do not believe it is the sound card, as myself and many friends that

When I open Rhythmbox first, once a song is finished, the java applet

I am having a similar (the same?) problem with Ubuntu 9.10 and Asus WL-167G.
The device works out-of-the-box, I am able to connect to my WPA2 encrypted

I hope this works--I'm used to fedora's system
memtest has been running for 3+ hours and looks to be about 50% done.
Many, Many errors (like why it took dozens of trial to actually
install ubuntu; but then again windows wouldn't install at all).
That would certainly explain a lot of things;
I reported this problem quite some time ago, and considering it causes a
total system lockup, I am surprised I cannot seem get anyone interested
to actually do anything to get this fixed, but I have now confirmed what
is actually happening.

me. If I set recordfail=0 and restart grub works.. once. The next time

Thanks, friend. I took your advice and enabled apport, restarted, and
reproduced the crashes. I am not sure what apport did (unless it was
all behind the scenes), but I do now have three crash reports which are

This is still the issue. Sometimes works and sometimes blocks whole
laptop, and only solution is to power down the laptop.

This may have been fixed in 2.26.1 but it sure appears to be back in
2.28.2 Brasero in Ubuntu 9.10 (64-bit).

What can I do for a workaround? This is also happening in Rhythmbox,

I finally found what causes the Could not open location; you might not
have permission to open the file when auto playing a DVD. In XFCE, go
to the Removable Drives and Media setting (Applications, Settings) and
then on the multimedia tab, change the default command for Video
CDs/DVDs from totem
