Thanks for the patch. After further investigation it seems this is
already upstream in a slightly different form. I've pasted the upstream
git commit below. Unfortunately it doesn't look like this has been
pulled into the Ubuntu Lucid tree. I'll get this on the kernel team's

I just finished installing Ubuntu on a new system and I can confirm that
this bug still exists. I was able to boot from the Live CD, but when I
boot Ubuntu from my hard disk and try to insert a CD/DVD, the system
freezes or reboots.

to get through our corporate proxy.
Normal updates function correctly thru the proxy.

I'm experiencing this same problem. If I suspend either by closing the
lid or by choosing suspend from the menu then upon resume the screen
will flicker occasionally and eventually will fill with a solid color,
usually black. The system remains completely responsive but the screen
won't update.
My monitor is Hyundai T91D
