I have a problem with Plymouth. It works pretty well on low res, but on
higher resolutions some strange video artifacts appear - see the
attachment.
I use ATI proprietary drivers, if it has something to do with it.

Ah, killing gnome-volume-control-applet from System Monitor gets rid of
it and it doesn't appear to be coming back, but I'll keep an eye out and

in the development release of empathy that would make empathy 3.0 there

Confirmed.
I installed Lucid RC1, and have updated my way to the final release
since then. Last update today. After installation I got an floppy icon,
but I have no floppy drive. I commented the floppy line in fstab and the
floppy icon disappeared. But also the icon for my ntfs partition (not

I was working with Leonidas on that problem on the #ubuntu freenode
channel. I am really surprised to see that bug right now, as I own the
same card in a Pentium M Centrino Environment like Leonidas and probably
some others here.
I am not affected by this bug, using the same card!

following your instructions I was able to build the modules without
having to build the entire kernel, which saved a bunch of time.
I agree with, Tom, even though there is a workaround, this should be
fixed, especially for users
I have 5.1 speakers and if I try to change balance, or tone (balande
towards back speakers, surround in alsamixer) the overall volume and
subwoofer slider is changed instead.
Same problem if I use Gnome Alsamixer and try to change volume for any
individual speaker.

The current thinking is that most cases of this are really slow akonadi
startup. Try exiting the package you manually started (e.g.
Kontact/Kmail) and then starting it again a few minutes later. If you
don't get the error again, it was just slow startup and should work fine
after.

OK. I want to nuance on my latest.
While it is true that I get gdm screen as it should, the xsplash still
looks funky for a split second right before gdm. I hadn't noticed it
before, because I tested by simply re-starting gdm.
So what happens to xsplash... it is not the resolution that changes,
New SRU with the patch of the last comment uploaded. Will appear in
-proposed soon.

If we can get this chip working for the ordinary user, without them

Otherwise, the least we could do is to provide a really detailed step by
step explanation of how to get it to work on the

I am also affected by this issue, since I log in by using fingerprint
authentication. Why doesn't the keyring daemon ask for a password when

Under 9.04 lid close detection didn't work.
Under 9.10 it worked perfectly.
Under 10.04 again, it doesn't work.
N.B. I did a clean install with each new Ubuntu version (formatting root
