a failure of cups to start, booting again with --verbose; and attach
both that output and the matching /var/log/boot.log. Please also check
whether running 'start rc-sysinit' causes cups to start.

I am running 10.4LTS on a macbook air 2,1 and have no sound through the
speaker and the microphone doesn't work. Sound does output through the
line out jack.
I'm also new to launchpad. Should this be raised as a new bug or
information added to this one?

i have random usb harddisk disconnects too. what i'm seeing is when i
copy several GB of data to it, it will stop working after a while
(several minutes), show this in the /var/log/messages:

Hi,
I came to this thread after aborting a CD rip partway through and have
managed to boil this error down to the following.
Rhythmbox 0.12.8, Ubuntu 10.04.
Prefered media type: CD Quality, MP3 (.mp3 type)
Steps to reproduce:
1. Select some tracks to rip from a CD (e.g. tracks 1 and 2)

Coz: So other distros dont't take ages to detect your disks?
Maybe the boot option raid=noautodetect helps in you case? Bug #551719

i should perhaps also mention that this happens on 3 different linux machines
that i tested on. one is fresh installed, 2 are upgraded from 9.10, all 3 have
usb issues now. all had no problems with usb devices before the upgrade to
10.04.
i would opt for an increase in priority of this issue
