I'm experiencing a similar issue, albeit with slightly different
hardware. I have several VMs backed by SAN storage, accessed through a
QLogic 2560 controller. All of my volumes that are 1TB seem to
function without issue. On the larger volumes (one in particular is
7TB with an XFS filesystem),
I started facing this issue yesterday. I'm using a fully updated Lucid. Since I
started using Lucid I've had issues with icons in the panels not being rendered
properly [See attached screenshot1 and screenshot2]. It happens occasionally on
reboot, maybe once every 4 or 5 restarts.

I've been trying to use the new kernel updates for 10.10 as they come out
and have tried both
- 2.6.35-14
- 2.6.35-15
Neither appears to be solving this problem with random boot failures ...
where it never gets to the login spash screen.
Recovery doesn't seem to work either.
But if I try
the warning errors disappear if I remove the appmenu-gtk package which
this machine seems to have installed.

I have just tried then and first time round it didn't work, but then I
hooked up the Internet with the u8000 plugged in and ubuntu found a
restricted driver for it, after installing that it worked fine.

I'm having the exact same problem. Anyway that I attempt to add my

Same problem here but with an ASUS P5K-E motherboard. Turning off ACPI
as Lord_Shadow suggested did NOT fix the problem, or at least only
partially fixed it. With ACPI off I can mount CDROMs but I cannot
mount/burn blank DVD-Rs.
As others have said, everything worked fine in Ubuntu 9.04, Ubuntu
I have this working under the previous kernel, but the update that I
took to the kernel overnight broke it and none of the workaround can get
it back. I am trying to access a Hidden Network, like Pedro.

it looks like if i can download the video the flash player was trying to
play within firefox, i can play it from the hard disk without going
through firefox.
i tried loading down the latest adobe flash player and it says i already
have it installedbut this is NOT the plug in or have anything

Sorry but that part about the code above is something of a red
herring... here is a discussion of what the problem is on the UBUNTU
