The default .bashrc should also have a comment added stating that the
user has to install libnotify-bin, which is not installed by default in
Maverick, to get the notify-send binary; otherwise the pop-up
notification won't work.
Having libnotify-bin in the default install would take care of it too

Nevermind, I had disabled KMS. Once I enabled it (radeon.modeset = 1), I
see radeon_pm_info and everything else. GPU Temperature at 62C and Fan
at 3287 RPM after setting power_method profile/auto as mentioned

FWIW, I also see the plymouth main process "SEGV" when starting a 10.10
AMI image under KVM 10.04, with 'console=ttyS0' on the kernel command
line. This is similar to the OP's report, except that I see plymouth-

I see this problem too, but it isn't cured by a restart. Package files
are somehow getting corrupted by acng, and this on two separate
installations. I have to go in and clear out the old files from the
cache to fix it.

I already did all those instructions but I doing again to may sure I was
right so in attached file you will find what I did in my terminal. This
problem comes when I upgrade to maverick 10.10 because when I was using
