I believe I am seeing this as well. I installed yesterday (08.30.11) and
get a blank screen on boot, but I can ssh into the machine. Starting
lightdm results in a blank screen and a syslog entry like this:

Seems I can reproduce something similar and break an otherwise
functioning oneiric system just by adding LVM into my setup. If I
create a VG and LV using /dev/sda7 as the backing PV (the last partition
of a single-disk system), init-bottom hangs until udev kills '/sbin/lvm
vgscan; /sbin/lvm vgchan

I committed a fix to trunk that pre-registers DeeSequenceModel with the
serialization subsystem. Also added a more helpful error message.

Last I checked, this worked with Empathy in Natty (with most supported
cameras). Does anyone still have issues with XMPP video chat? Does this

I am still not sure if suspend has just gotten much more unreliable on
my laptop in 11.10 or if it is an artifact of the missing "lid close"
option/functionality. I did find this script
http://fedora.rasmil.dk/blog/?p=208 that adds gsettings for lid close
actions. This seems to effect gnome-power-m
