@Paul - the hover effect is slightly lighter. It is very subtle and
difficult to see unless you are specifically looking for it.

I've tried changing font and font sizes, but this problem rests solely
with rhythmbox. The bar that moves when a song plays makes longer
letters in the song name totally illegible.

The space in orange is prime real estate for the Now playing x
information really, leaving the progress bar where it is, though
slightly up, which in turn means fitting more library information on the
screen when maximised.

its pattern.
