I am on unity-lens-applications 6.10.0-0ubuntu1, with Quantal Proposed
enabled in Software Sources. I see large application icons for some
applications. This is a regression, as this wasn't the case until
recently.

During my experiments with kernel 3.2.0, the xorg also crashed. I had to
disable X11 acceleration for 3.2.0 kernel to work.
Same story with kernel 3.5.0. This means that I erred on comment #2 where I
claimed that simple reversal to 3.2.0 fixed the problem. Apparently I forgot to
mention that som
FWIW, if you run xscreensaver-getimage -verbose -file
it should print a message if libgdk-pixbuf is rotating the picture.
Otherwise gdk_pixbuf_apply_embedded_orientation() could be at fault.

Since a recent update some programmes are missing the main menu under
sometimes depending on unkown conditions. The applications affected so
far on my machine are gimp and libreoffice. The menu is neither
acessible by mouse hover nor by Alt+F. This is somewhat related to Bug
