because after installing kernel 3.9 i just did a warm reboot. With a
cold boot the problem is still present in 3.9. :-(

On previous versions of Ubuntu I was using non-default hotkeys to change
between tabs in XFCE4 Terminal. Please note that I am using Unity on Ubuntu,
and not Xubuntu.
Since upgrading to 13.04 this functionality seems to be gone. It seems that the
keys are now Ctrl+PgUp/PgD
