Oh after more closer look, it crashes because the daemon is already
running, which I didn't checked first, silly me.
The daemon should just exit nicely, but that's a bug for upstream

It would not install boot-repair as its not available for 14.04 64 bit yet.
Tried sudo debconf-show grub-pc but did not seem to show any path.
Tried sudo dpkg-reconfigure grub-pc and it just gave a blank command line.
Booted the live CD to re-install and it offered an upgrade from 14.04 to 14.04
It is a very bad idea to prevent users who have physical access to the machine
to shutdown if there are other users logged in.

As I stated in my previous comment, I went for the solution to have
/boot on a MD+ext4 RAID (which has the following, non-blocking but
annoying, bug #1274320).
I am half happy with this solution, but at least most of my files are
now under Btrfs.

Looking on the Toshiba site the difference seems to be a slightly
different processor Pentium® M processor Ultra Low Voltage 753 for the
PPR20E and Pentium® M processor Ultra Low Voltage 773 for the PPR21E.
Also the spec says the PPR21E supports wireless a/b/g whereas the PPR20E
only supports
