freeze started to occur, I may as well waste a lot of effort for nothing.
The workaround seems to do its job although I would like to be able to choose
whether I want to just turn off screen or suspend the laptop when

* Have laptop plugged in by AC
* Close lid
* Remove AC
* Wait for suspend.
* Open lid, leave AC unplugged.
* Wait several seconds, laptop resuspends

The only problem i have sometimes is the Low Graphics Mode, which goes away on

ubiquity in precise-updates, doesn't have tight enough

I have a freshly installed Ubuntu 14.04 x64 . Recently I noticed that
while holding Super key (Windows key by default) the shortcuts overlay
does not appear anymore. The launcher along with the icon numbers appear
just fine but the shortcuts overlay is not visible anymore.
ipmi_msghandler is now built into the Trusty kernel:
debian.master/config/config.common.ubuntu:CONFIG_IPMI_HANDLER=y
Looking at your current dmesg it also looks like your IPMI interface has
initialized:
