[Bug 1499199] Re: Upgrading libvirt from trusty to cloud/stable/liberty fails

2015-09-25 Thread Serge Hallyn
Thanks for reporting this bug. I can reproduce it with the cloud
archive. This actually may become a problem when people upgrade from
14.04->16.04.

[Bug 1499954] Crash report cannot be processed

2015-09-25 Thread Apport retracing service
Thank you for your report!

However, processing it in order to get sufficient information for the
developers failed (it does not generate a useful symbolic stack trace). This
might be caused by some outdated packages which were installed on your system
at the time of the report:

no debug symbol package found for libgtkspell0

Please upgrade your system to the latest package versions. If you still
encounter the crash, please file a new report.

Thank you for your understanding, and sorry for the inconvenience!

[Bug 1447395] Re: Zoom needed for better readability

2015-09-25 Thread Michael Terry
This would be especially useful for the desktop, where layouts tend to
be larger and text smaller.

[Bug 1406725] Re: Severe graphical corruption running software clients (including Xmir) on android

2015-09-25 Thread Alberto Aguirre
@Daniel,

Yeah, those flags are used by the implementations to know when they need
to do cache coherency operations (flush, invalidate, etc).

In android, software buffers CAN be used as backing to textures for
opengl and can be passed directly to Hardware Composer HAL (HW
Composer), hence they are marked as such.

[Bug 1493427] Re: [dialer app] + [window management] movement on screen in window mode

2015-09-25 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
Per spec, Mir will require that every window have a minimum amount of
width+height on-screen. Currently there's no allowance for apps to keep
a window *entirely* on-screen, and nor is there any larger minimum
width+height when relaunching an app.

But even if there was, that wouldn't solve this problem at all. While a
call is in progress, another window might open in front of it; you might
minimize it; or you might move it to another workspace, and then switch
back to the previous workspace. So there are several ways that the call
window could be invisible while the call is in progress.

You could reduce this by setting the call window as a floating regular
window, so that it floats on top of most other windows. (But that would
be impractical if the app ever allowed screen sharing.) Or you could
just rely on the Launcher, switcher, or call banner to return to the
app.

[Bug 1499746] Re: Early Syslinux Boot Error in pendrive made with the Ubuntu Startup Disk Creator

2015-09-25 Thread Chris Hermansen
I am the "another user" Nio mentions above. To confirm, in my case the
bug appeared two days ago when attempting a 64 bit 15.10 startup disk
under 64 bit 15.04. I attempted this process on three different USB
devices: a Transcend 16Gb, a SanDisk Cruzer 4Gb and a Lexar USB Card
Reader with a Transcend 4Gb Micro SDHC card in it.

There were no error messages during the usb-creator-gtk session, just an
unbootable USB stick as a result.

I should mention that I had to erase the sticks with the Ubuntu "disks"
utility as the "erase disk" function in usb-creator-gtk would not clear
the drive for me, giving me the message:

org.freedesktop.DBus.Python.GLib.Error: Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/dbus/service.py", line 707, in
_message_cb
retval = candidate_method(self, *args, **keywords)
File "/usr/share/usb-creator/usb-creator-helper", line 275, in Format
block.call_format_sync('vfat', GLib.Variant('a{sv}', {'label':
GLib.Variant('s', '')}), None)
GLib.Error: udisks-error-quark:
GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.UDisks2.Error.Failed: Error synchronizing after
initial wipe: Timed out waiting for object (0)

The "disks" utility has no problem formatting my usb sticks; usb-
creator-gtk shows no errors (as I noted above) installing the system on
the drive so formatted.

Also I was able to create a working boot disk on the Transcend 16Gb
using unetbootin.

[Bug 1499756] [NEW] Ubuntu 14.04 LTS freezes

2015-09-25 Thread peterzay
Public bug reported:

After the most recent system update which brought new versions of
Chromium and Firefox, Chromium starts to freeze and become unresponsive.

At this point you still have mouse pointer control.

Click around on the launcher a few times, nothing gets launched, and
then Ubuntu itself completely freezes up.

The only escape is to press down on the PC power button and force a
hardware shutdown.

This behaviour is intermittent but has happened twice since the above
mentioned system update.

[Bug 1387207] Re: [greeter] strange persistent "Enter SIM1 PIN" dialog on Greeter

So I think this is *likely* :) to not occur again.

[Bug 1477171] Re: Enable intel_pstate by default on Trusty EC2 AMIs

2015-09-25 Thread Doug Smythies
Isn't there another issue within this bug report? Why doesn't the acpi-
cpufreq frequency scaling driver support the higher available clock
frequencies?

Actually, maybe it does. Observe processor 3 from the cpuinfo listing:

processor : 3
...
cpu MHz : 2901.000

It is in turbo mode.
Regardless of what other tools say, what does turbostat report for CPU
frequencies when using the acpi-cpufreq frequency scaling driver?

[Bug 1493427] Re: dialer app movement on screen in window mode

2015-09-25 Thread Olga Kemmet
@kevin:
I had a chat with Matthew who is working on the MIR spec. One of the
suggestions I had was to reposition the windows after a reboot. The ideal case
would be to show the full window to the user, positioned as close as possible
to its previous "off-screen" position. Many people, myself included, close and
re-open apps because a window was moved too far out of view. In most cases this
window is displayed fully on screen, close to the previous position.

That might solve part of the problem, at least after a reboot of the
device. The indicator issue is part of an other bug, as mentioned above.

One more comment.

I *CAN* make a working ie bootable 15.04 USB stick with usb-creator on
the same platform. It seems that the problem, for me at least, is in
creating a working 15.10 USB stick.

[Bug 1499764] [NEW] Gmail complains about the version of safari

2015-09-25 Thread Michael Terry
Public bug reported:

When logged into gmail on the desktop in webbrowser-app, I see a yellow
banner at the top that says:

"This version of Safari is no longer supported. Please upgrade to a
supported browser."

with a dismiss button.

I don't know if we are actually using an older version of the webkit
engine or if we are just reporting that we are. My current (default)
useragent is:

"Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; Ubuntu 14.04) AppleWebKit/537.36
Chromium/35.0.1870.2 Safari/537.36"

I'm using wily's 0.23+15.10.20150922-0ubuntu1 version.

[Bug 1499767] [NEW] Add a keyboard shortcut for "undo tab close"

2015-09-25 Thread Michael Terry
Public bug reported:

It is very useful to be able to undo an accidentally-closed tab. Either
because of a missed mouse click on the tab bar, accidentally hitting
ctrl+w instead of ctrl+a (or whatever), or just simply being dumb.

Chromium and Firefox both use Shift+Ctrl+T for this.

This assumes that NetworkManager's State property definition of
