It actually seems that the example I initially provided is wrong. The
XFCE terminal is actually rendering the font at 9pt, when I switch it up
to 10pt it looks as wrong as the other two.

I have found that the system's monospace font is being incorrectly
rendered in some applications. It seems that too much space is being

So after bisecting more, I could build the commit
[424b84001e19318fa3f6e0fd5941b157ad5583af] drm/radeon: clean up fujitsu
quirks
and I think I managed to install the kernel built from it and it seems
to work (I mean not freeze my laptop). But after that, I tried a bunch
of commits between the

After installing the FF DE I was not able to start the bundled firefox, the
icon in the luncher was replaced with the FF DE's icon. Filtering applications
by "Firefox" finds only the Developer Edition. The bigger problem is that when
the Dev Edition is opened it seems

After updating the Ubuntu HWS stack in 14.04 to Wily (kernel 4.2 and
xserver-xorg-video-radeon-lts-wily), system boots up fine, but screen is
laggy; although DRI3 is now enabled (according to Xorg.0.log), 2D
acceleration seems to be gone.
System is an older Pentium laptop
NoBugs, in order to allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue,
at your earliest convenience, could you please test the latest upstream kernel
available from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D ? Please
keep in mind the following:
