It actually seems that the example I initially provided is wrong. The
XFCE terminal is actually rendering the font at 9pt, when I switch it up
to 10pt it looks as wrong as the other two.

As far as I can tell then, the problem actually seems to be that 10pt is
being rendered at the same height as 9pt with the only change being an
increase in width.
