[Bug 1729194] Re: Systemd-Resolvd Forgets to Resolv Request
Some more troubleshooting, I've found that if I manually set my nameserver to 127.0.0.53 systemd-resolver starts working again. However everytime that a wifi network connects or disconnects, it switches back to `127.0.0.1` It does look like systemd-resolve only listens on that port too. : `udp0 0 127.0.0.53:53 0.0.0.0:* 858/systemd-resolve` So what I need to find out is why network-manager isn't using the right settings for systemd-resolve. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1729194 Title: Systemd-Resolvd Forgets to Resolv Request To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1729194/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 1704402] Re: dns-sortlist not recognized in network-config
Hi David,This ticket is for the source-list, which is for dns resolver and the config is as follows. version: 1 config: - type: physical name: eth0 - type: nameserver address: ['xx.xx.xx.xx'] sortlist: ['xx.xx.xx.xx', 'xx.xx.xx.xx'] I believe the only thing that is needed for cloud-init is to add the keyword "sort-list" to the case list, so that it is written to /etc/resolv.conf. As for source-based routing, there is no config recognized by cloud-init. It's just straight network statements, name, ip, netmask, etc. The work is done by a shell script in the if-up.d directory as follows: #!/bin/sh set -e if [ "$METHOD" = loopback ]; then exit 0 elif [ "$METHOD" = dhcp ]; then exit 0 elif [ "$METHOD" = static ]; then if [ "$IF_GATEWAY" ]; then echo "exiting..." exit 0 fi fi IF_GATEWAY="$(echo "$IF_ADDRESS" | cut -d. -f1-3).254" ip route flush table "$IFACE" ip route add default via "$IF_GATEWAY" table "$IFACE" ip rule del lookup "$IFACE" || true ip rule add from "$IF_ADDRESS" lookup "$IFACE" Basically, if the interface is a loopback, dhcp, or already has a default gateway, it does nothing. For any other interface, it adds a default route to the route table causing all responses to inbound traffic to use the same interface to respond on. The email I sent late last night to your email, discusses what I've been able to find, in terms of using systemd-networkd, but requires ver 235, as well as some additional work in netplan and cloud-init to recognize all the values. P.S. systemd 235, which I saw is proposed for bionic beaver, adds quite a few nice functions, including "vrf". Re: [Bug 1724639] Re: Bug in Kernel 4.13 : Intel Mobile Graphics 945 shows 80 % black screen
Hi John, On 1 November 2017 at 17:08, John Roe <1724...@bugs.launchpad.net> wrote: > Can someone help me out how to do this edit. As I have never edited a GRUB > before.I'm not even sure what the GRUB is > If I press e is this giving me the GRUB? > I had that problem as well :) I'll do my best to explain things. If I over-explain things, I apologise, if I under-explain things, ask me to clarify things. The Linux kernel is the very core of Linux, it handles the hardware on behalf of the programs we want to run. GRUB is the "Grand Unified Bootloader" GRUB is a rather accomplished system to handle booting things - typically a Linux kernel or memtest86+. It can do many things and even has a built-in scripting language for flexibility. The manual can be found here:- https://www.gnu.org/software/grub/manual/grub/grub.html#Top With lubuntu, GRUB is used to load a Linux kernel. If you want to see the GRUB menu when booting your computer, switch it on and press both SHIFT keys down and you should see a menu. With at least these two options: * Ubuntu * Advanced Options for Ubuntu If you highlight the "Ubuntu" option and press 'e' you will see a GRUB script specific to that kernel. Most of that stuff can be ignored. The line beginning with the word linux is the interesting one - see https://www.gnu.org/software/grub/manual/grub/grub.html#linux for full details. Basically, you can edit that line to send information to the kernel or tell it to do something differently. For instance, I've been doing that recently to stop the arguments quiet and splash being passed to the kernel If you want to run a different kernel to the default on your system, select "Advanced Options for Ubuntu", you will get a list of available kernels you can run them as-is or you can highlight your preferred kernel and press 'e' if you want to change the parameters passed to the kernel. > Where do I insert the Line GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=text? > Do I then Ctrl_x and go to terminal to do the sudo bit? > Or should I be editing a file from the terminal? > Eugene has already answered that :) HTH, Ian -- -- ACCU - Professionalism in programming - http://www.accu.org -- My writing - https://sites.google.com/site/ianbruntlett/ -- Free Software page - https://sites.google.com/site/ianbruntlett/home/free-software -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1724639 Title: Bug in Kernel 4.13 : Intel Mobile Graphics 945 shows 80 % black screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1724639/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Your disk is currently partitioned to boot in bios mode, but you booted the installer in EFI mode. A warning message prompted you that this could be a problem and recommended performing a bios mode install instead, but you chose not to. You either need to perform the bios mode install, or partition the disk using GPT and set up an EFI system partition to install in EFI mode. [Bug 1487666] Re: non-fatal error right after login (just upgraded the kernel to 4.1)
After trying to build a different kernel module on Ubuntu 17.04 (Zesty), I can replicate these errors. The first "error" isn't really an error unless the echo statements are triggered if the "test" command fails: test -e include/generated/autoconf.h -a -e include/config/auto.conf || ( [...SNIP...] ) Notice in the part with parentheses that each line is prefixed by: echo >&2 " ... " This behavior of GNU Make is normal. It will print back the commands it runs unless told not to. If you saw this message without 'echo >&2' in front, it would immediately exit afterwards with a message like: make: *** [all] Error 1 This "test -e [...]" command is checking that the mentioned files exist within the Linux Kernel source directory. This directory is mentioned above when Make changes into it: "/usr/src/linux- headers-4.1.0-040100rc2-generic" The two files it is checking exist are therefore: /usr/src/linux-headers-4.1.0-040100rc2-generic/include/generated/autoconf.h # AND: /usr/src/linux-headers-4.1.0-040100rc2-generic/include/config/auto.conf You can look for these files yourself to make sure they exist. If so, this particular output from Make can be ignored. If they don't exist, then you can usually follow the instructions for running "make oldconfig && make prepare" within the Linux Kernel source directory to create them. The second error message you are getting looks like the real one: make[1]: *** No rule to make target 'arch/x86/syscalls/syscall_32.tbl', needed by 'arch/x86/syscalls/../include/generated/asm/syscalls_32.h'. Stop. arch/x86/Makefile:181: recipe for target 'archheaders' failed make: *** [archheaders] Error 2 This error is listed around the Internet surrounding building Linux Kernel modules on Debian (and Fedora) against Linux Kernel source that is missing "syscalls_32.tbl" and "syscalls_32.h" files. These files should exist in the "Vanilla" Linux Kernel source code which can always be found at kernel.org. However, it appears that some distributions such as Debian and Ubuntu are missing these files in their newer "linux-headers-*" packages. This appears to be a packaging bug which can be filed against "linux- headers-*" package. The "linux-headers" packages should include these files in order to build kernel modules using them. The workaround is to get a full copy of the appropriate version of the Linux Kernel source tree by whatever means, and to use this directory to build your modules against. Note that I'm answering this question based on my personal experience with the linux-headers-4.10.0-37-generic package on Ubuntu 17.04 "Zesty Zapus". I'm under the assumption that this file has been missing from the "linux-headers-*" packages for a while now based on the many instances of people running into this error since 2013 posted on the internet. If you can somehow locate the "syscalls_32.tbl" and "syscalls_32.h" files within your /usr/src/linux-headers-4.1.0-040100rc2-generic/ directory, then you should check the bbswitch module's source directory Makefile. Sometimes the way an external Kernel Module's Makefile is written prevents it from finding the right linux-headers or /lib/modules/ directory during build.Other solutions have been posted for changing the way GNU Make is finding the Linux Source directory and the Kernel Module's working directory usually with $$(PWD) or $(shell $PWD). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1487666 Title: non-fatal error right after login (just upgraded the kernel to 4.1) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bbswitch/+bug/1487666/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. [Bug 1705369] Re: Ubuntu 17.10 boots to black screen when using Nvidia drivers (on a desktop with an Intel GPU)
Greetings, this bug is also affecting my brand new fresh clean install of Ubuntu 17.10 to my Dell XPS 15 laptop. I have gone thru this thread and have tried every single trick/hack and nothing allows the machine to boot successfully once the Nvidia drivers are installed. In fact, I am facing consisten boot loops no matter which driver I install. I was also unsuccessful in being able to log in wiht lightdm, even though the machine did successfullly boot to the lightdm login screen after Nvidia-375 was installed. I was wondering if I should try a different kernel than the one that ships with 17.10?? [Bug 1729437] [NEW] Ubuntu 17.10 hangs on reboot after installation
Public bug reported: After installing ubuntu 17.10 desktop a window asking for a reboot opens. After selecting the reboot I get the following error message from systemd: 'A start job is running for Hold until boot process finishes up (21s / no limit)' The system hangs and continues to display this error message. As far as I can tell this message comes up during the shutdown part of the reboot. I used 'ubuntu-17.10-desktop-amd64.iso' as installation image on a usb drive, I started the installer by selecting 'Try Ubuntu without installing' in the boot menu and clicking the installer icon after the live systems boot up. Happily I also found a workaround. Before booting the live system I changed some boot parameters with grub from 'quiet splash' to 'noplymouth' and then the installation worked and a proper reboot after installation was possible. To make things clearer I have attachted a screenshot of the error message. [Bug 1729441] [NEW] changing display mode after login terminates session
Public bug reported: When I login, I type the password on the laptop screen. (Maybe it's important.) After a while, while I'm waiting to get logged in, Ubuntu changes the display mode. Both monitor goes black, laptop screen becomes the secondary and my external monitor becomes the primary display. Because of Ubuntu is unable to remember to the previously set display mode, I usually change it a bit after I have logged in. However, if I (would like to) do this too quickly, say... less than 4-5 seconds after I can see my desktop, my session gets terminated and I'm returned to the login screen. You can repeat it indefinitely, it always worked (?) for me. I thought it's because of one of my extensions but I could reproduce it after I have disabled them. I haven't found any useful log entries. [Bug 1661222] Re: syscall.Getpagesize returns wrong page size on aarch64
Hello Edward, or anyone else affected, Accepted golang-1.6 into xenial-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/golang-1.6/1.6.2-0ubuntu5~16.04.4 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository. Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how to enable and use -proposed.Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users. If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from verification-needed-xenial to verification-done-xenial. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed-xenial. In either case, details of your testing will help us make a better decision. Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Good luck! I went through several tries to get it right. Make sure after removing gdm that lightdm is installed.. that's key. And if you get a login screen, be sure to use Xorg. [Bug 1709905] Re: stress-ng 0.08.10 fails to compile on SLES11 SP4
I have managed to compile 0.09.00 by renaming F_OWNER_PGRP back to F_OWNER_GID which I believe from some reading is what this was called on older Linux distros (https://gitlab.collabora.com/martyn/linux/commit/978b4053aefd422713f289f2a315ce2acba62018) so I did on the source: sed -i 's/F_OWNER_PGRP/F_OWNER_GID/g' stress-fcntl.c Not sure yet as that has any negative impact. [Bug 1729075] Re: Sync git 1:2.15.0-1 (main) from Debian unstable (main)
Ubuntu doesn't use a build profile like that. If you think that's important, you could try filing a bug against Launchpad and it will get triaged or reassigned as needed. I'm renaming this bug since a sync is not appropriate. Some other comments: 1. Please consider using 'requestsync' from the ubuntu-dev-tools package to make fiing the appropriate bug easier next time. 2. Ubuntu 18.04 development only opened a few days ago and autosyncs only started a few hours ago (and the autopkgtest queue is backed up for a few days). So there really isn't much of a delay caused by there being an Ubuntu-specific delta yet. ** Changed in: git (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid ** Changed in: git (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid => Triaged ** Summary changed: - Sync git 1:2.15.0-1 (main) from Debian unstable (main) + Merge git 1:2.15.0-1 (main) from Debian unstable (main) ** Description changed: Ubuntu's git package is unnecessarily forked from Debian.
